Autumn 2 Week 3

Hello

It has been a fantastic week in class 4, everyone has been working really hard.

Today in science we worked in teams to investigate how quickly paper helicopters fall. We had a basic template for the helicopter and then had to make changes to it to make it fall to the ground as slowly as possible. Next week we are going to have a class competition and see which teams helicopter takes the longest to fall. The class can’t wait!

Autumn 1 week 8

Hello

It was lovely to see so many of you yesterday at our family week. The children and I had a really nice afternoon and enjoyed having you all there. The winner of the maths challenge, in an amazing 23 minutes, was Henry and Ben. They got to choose a prize to take home today. Well done everyone, it was super close with lots of children under 30 minutes! Great times table practice and perseverance.

We continued our learning of The Bug Hunt in English today and identified word classes within the text. We also performed to the class, which was great fun and quite funny to.

It has been a fantastic half term getting to know you all and look forward to seeing you back after half term.

Enjoy the break

Autumn 1 Week 6

Hello

We have had a fun and busy week in class 4, thank you for coming to open session on Monday. We hope you enjoyed looking at the classroom and the children’s learning.

In English we have been giving verbal instructions to each other, understanding how clear, concise instructions get the best outcome.

During Science we did an investigation into the digestive system. Children were given a tray, tights, paper cup with a hole in the bottom, cream crackers, a banana, water, orange juice and a sealable bag. Each object represented a different part of the digestive system. Ask your child if they can explain what we did. It was great fun and very messy!

Autumn 1 Week 5

Hello

Thank you all for your generous Harvest gifts and well done to the class 4 readers for the facts they read out in church.

This week in PSHE we have been talking about what makes a healthy lifestyle, thinking about a balanced diet and exercise. We have finished off and edited our fables, using a dictionary to find out spellings are adding extra detail where needed.

Have a great weekend

Autumn 1 Week 3

Hello

Week 3 has been fantastic in Class 4, we are really getting into the swing of things.

In English we have written a letter in the character of Lion, from the fable the mouse and the lion. The children have worked very hard to add detail and stay in character.

Our maths lessons have been really successful, the children have a good grasp of place value when adding and subtracting 1, 10, 100 and 1000.

In PSHE we finished our compliment clouds which are now on display. Each child had a cloud with 4 colouring strips of rainbow. They wrote one positive thing about themselves on one of the strips and then the class moved around filling in each other’s rainbow strips until everyone had 4 positive comments. The class were super during this session and it really made them feel good about themselves.

Hello

Another busy week here in class 4. Today we worked on our football skills in PE with Mrs Jefferies and Mr Smith, it was lots of fun. In maths we have been adding and taking away using place value and in English we have been adding conjunctions to sentences to make them more interesting.

To keep ourselves motivated and ready to learn we have been having mini breaks in class where we have been doing a 5 minute workout from Joe Wicks classroom YouTube channel or doing a go noodle dance. The children are loving having a quick break before carrying on with their learning.

Have a lovely weekend

Reminders:

  • Winter PE kits in case we are outside and it’s cold
  • Daily reading and recording

Autumn 1 week 1

Hello! Wow! We have made an amazing start to the year! All children have been keen, focussed and ready to learn. I can already tell we are going to have lots of fun learning new things together.

We started our English topic on fables this Thursday, we acted out unknown fables and the rest of the class had to try and guess the moral of the story. The class were fantastic and really confident when performing.

In Maths we have been thinking about place value, class 4 played a game today to help them with this. They had great fun.

Have a lovely weekend

Production Costume update - Year 3 Boys

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion with the costume letters.

Just to clarify, ALL Year 3 Boys are evacuees (this also is the same as 'children belonging to adults') in the first half!

Dressed as boys - not in floral dresses! Please google for ideas but school shorts are a good start!

Second half - they are still soldiers!

Any questions, just ask

Miss Gale

Summer 1, Week 5

Where has this week gone!?

Well done Class 4, excellent learning again.

In Maths, we have learnt and recapped symmtery and reflection. We also had great fun making tangrams from triangles and squares! I wonder what other shapes you could create at home?

In English, we wrote a letter to Abdul Kazam about our fantastic visit to The Place Between - fantastic language used and brilliant structure with paragraphs.

In Science, we classified different leaves we found on the playground and in Art we finished off our paintings of Tutankhamun's burial mask!

Today we had sports day - don't forget your coloured top for next wednesday.

Have a love weekend

Miss Gale

Important Reminders:

  • Please ensure children have a tracksuit in their kit still - this could be a school fleece. It can be a bit cold at this time of year but we still try to go up the field for PE.
  • Don't forget a coloured top for PE. Information about your child's house colour came out this weeek with the newsletter.
  • SWIMMING KITS FOR MONDAY!

Summer 1, Week 3

Another fab week Class 4!

In English, we have really tried to use our imagination to take us to 'The Place Between' based on our book. The children worked really hard to think of new, creative words. I have loved reading their writing, it's been a joy to mark!

In Maths, we have rounded off our topic on time. Class 4 are excellent! Please do practise telling the time at home, little and often will really make it stick!

In Science, we created classficiation keys with sweets! It was a lot of fun.

Keep up the hard work with spellings this weekend! We are doing soooo well!

I hope you enjoyed non-uniform day for Super Seraph and thank you for all the donations.

Don't forget - swimming on Monday!
