The big Camp Out adventure!

What a FANTASTIC weekend of glorious, sunny weather for the first ever PTA Camp Out! It has been a really lovely atmosphere up at the school field as a bunch of enthusiastic campers set up home for the weekend.

There has been lots of fun and games organised by Mr Jefferies, a BBQ and camp fire singing at night, all rounded off this morning with a hearty breakfast in the school hall.  It was lovely to watch families getting to know each other and make new friends.

This is the first time we have tried a camp out and it has been a resounding success so a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the PTA in their new venture. Thank you to the Governors for cooking breakfast this morning, to the staff who gave up their weekends-Mrs Stewart, Miss Ingle and Mr Jefferies and to all the PTA committee who have worked so hard, especially Chair, Nicola Allenby. We are also very grateful to the parents and families who 'mucked in' to help with traffic control, BBQing, fire building, cleaning, tidying, moving, carrying......the list goes on - what a team effort!

Do take a look at the photographs in the gallery to see what fun was had by all!

Goodbye Gem!

Today we said goodbye to Gem, Mrs Blencowe’s Guide Dog puppy, as she leaves to go for the next stage of her training.

Gem first came to us in September last year when she was just a few weeks old and she has spent a lot of time in school since, learning to interact with children, cope with busy places and even go on school trips! Gem will be sadly missed by us all but we know she is going to go on to be a fantastic Guide Dog and will change a blind person’s life for ever when she qualifies.  We are so lucky that Mrs Blencowe shared her with us!

Last week we had some professional photographs taken of Gem in and around school with the children, there is a selection in the photo gallery. We would like to extend very special thanks to local photographer Sharon Cooper for donating her time to take the photographs free of charge. If you need any fab photos taking, look no further! www.sharoncooper.co.uk .

Sharon also put together this lovely video for us which we watched in our Collective Worship this morning:

Singing Workshop at Princess Helena College

Our school choir were very lucky to be invited to spend the day at Princess Helena College this week to take part in a music workshop day with Rufus Frowde. They had a fantastic day, culminating in a concert for parents in the afternoon. We were especially proud of them as they were the only school to sing a solo piece, which they did brilliantly! There are a few photographs in the gallery and if you would like to find out more about Rufus, visit www.rufusfrowde.com .

Thank you to PHC for their generous invitation, to Mrs Stewart, Mrs Archer and Mrs Thake for accompanying the choir and to the parents who came along to watch the children in action. Most of all, a big WELL DONE to the children, who were a credit to St Ippolyts School as usual.

Mr Jefferies in the stocks!

There was lots of fun as school broke up for the summer on Friday. Mr Jefferies bravely volunteered to go in the stocks and there was a long queue to 'chuck a sponge' at him!

Thank you Mr Jefferies for being such a good sport. There are photos in the gallery.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!

Thank you SO much to everyone who came along to our seaside Summer Fair this afternoon. There was lots to see, do and win with games, stalls, refreshments and much more. We even had perfect seaside weather too!

A big well done to the children who took part in the creative competition and the cupcake 'Bake Off' - there were some fantastic entries and it made life very tricky for the judges!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the fair such a great success, but especially the PTA committee who have worked tirelessly for the last few weeks and haven't stopped dashing about all day. A well earned rest is definitely in order! We are SO lucky to have such dedicated parents and families at our school and we are very, very grateful for the work that you do.

Watch this space to find out how much was raised. In the meantime, there are lots of pictures in the photo gallery so you an re-live the fun!

Rounders tournament success!

Congratulations to our Rounders Team who played in the Sporting Futures tournament yesterday. They played brilliantly and came an amazing 2nd out of 17 schools competing! Not only did they play wonderfully, but they showed great attitudes and sportsmanship throughout and represented St Ippolyts School so well. We are so proud of them!

Thank you to all the parents who came to watch and cheer them on and to Miss Lean and Mr Jefferies for coaching and taking them. WellRounders2014 033 Medium done everyone!

Sunday afternoon

This afternoon we have been dragon boating. In three teams we had races and challenges and had to invent different shouts and chants to do in response to commands.

We did different songs too. The red boat won 2 races, the blue boat won 2 and the yellow won one. It was VERY tiring but lots of fun! Miss Patston and Mr Jefferies went in the dragon boats too.

After the boats some of us jumped in the water - we were very wet! We are about to go to camp fire this evening and can't believe it's our last night here! Goodnight everyone!

Sunday morning update

It's a beautiful, warm, sunny day here in Osmington Bay and our morning activities are in full swing.

Last night everyone was very tired after an extremely busy day and the children were fast asleep within minutes of lights-out (some before!)

Today we are spending the morning doing quad bikes, and trapeze; this afternoon we are all dragon boating, so another packed day in store.

Everyone is absolutely fine, just a bit bleary eyed!

Saturday Morning

Despite a stormy rainy night all the children slept well and were up bright and early this morning. It was a grey wet morning as we started our first activity but the sun soon came out and it is now a lovely sunny day.

Today the children are doing kayaking, giant swing, survivor and zip wire. It has been a great day so far.
