Spring Week 6

We have had a great week in class 2!

In English, we continued using the book Traction Man is here written by Mini Grey. We used verbs to describe what Traction Man is doing on different pages and we created our own adventure for him to go on.

In maths this week, we have been learning how to tell o’clock and half past times. We created our own analogue clock and took them home to practise with. We have also learnt how to read and draw the hands on analogue clocks.

Today we finished our history topic about the Great Fire of London by having a guest in to tell us all about the Great Fire. We worked together as a class to practice our 17th century firefighting technique using our plastics buckets and re-enacted a lot of different scenes.

I hope you all have a lovely half term!

Spring Week 5

In English this week, we have been looking at the book Traction Man is here, written by Mini Grey. We used adjectives to describe Traction Man and what clothing he wears.

In maths, we have been learning how to find halves and quarters of shapes.

Over this week, we have also done a lot of work on wellbeing. As a class we have talked about how to look after ourselves and how we can stay safe. We had an exciting day on Thursday when we learnt about different fruits and vegetables and got to try them too!

Upcoming:

-      Open session on Monday (3.30-6.30pm).

-      On Friday (15th), we will be having a Great Fire of London morning to finish our history topic. Please could your child bring in a named plastic bucket for Friday in order for them to be a part of one of the activities.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Leake

Spring Week 4

In Class 2, we have had a busy and creative week!

In our English lessons, we looked at when we should include exclamation and questions marks within our sentences.

In maths we recapped our knowledge of addition and subtraction.

During our arts days, we had the opportunity to create some amazing pieces of art based around our Caribbean theme. We can’t wait to show you some of our art on display the main foyer during our open session on Monday 11th February.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Leake

Spring Week 3

We have had a very productive and fun week in Class 2.

This week in maths, we have been weighing a range of different objects using non-standard (cubes) and standard (grams) units. We ended the week by using our weighing knowledge and skills to weigh out the ingredients needed in order to make rice Krispie cakes.

In English, we continued our learning about instructions. We wrote our own instructions to tell us how to make jam sandwiches and used these to make the sandwiches. They were very yummy! To end the week we wrote intrusions to tell someone how to wash an animal, which was based around the book ‘How to wash a woolly mammoth’ by Michelle Robinson and Kate Hindley.

We have also used different apparatus during P.E, thought about forgiveness in RE, picked a range of items that helped us learn about the Great Fire of London in history and identified trees from their leaves in science.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Leake

Spring Week 2

This week in English, we have started to learn about instructions. We looked at what imperative (bossy) verbs are, identified what we need to include in instructions and put a set of instructions into chronological order.

In maths, our topic this week has been position and direction. We learnt a lot of vocabulary and used this to answer a range of questions and direct our partner to different pictures on the playground.

Additionally to this, we have practised our balancing skills in PE, named a variety of different wild plants in science, created art based upon Great Fire of London, talked about the 12 disciples Jesus chose and ordered the events of the Great Fire of London.

Reminders:

-      Please return the food making participation form on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Leake
