Spring Week 3

We have had a very productive and fun week in Class 2.

This week in maths, we have been weighing a range of different objects using non-standard (cubes) and standard (grams) units. We ended the week by using our weighing knowledge and skills to weigh out the ingredients needed in order to make rice Krispie cakes.

In English, we continued our learning about instructions. We wrote our own instructions to tell us how to make jam sandwiches and used these to make the sandwiches. They were very yummy! To end the week we wrote intrusions to tell someone how to wash an animal, which was based around the book ‘How to wash a woolly mammoth’ by Michelle Robinson and Kate Hindley.

We have also used different apparatus during P.E, thought about forgiveness in RE, picked a range of items that helped us learn about the Great Fire of London in history and identified trees from their leaves in science.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Leake

Spring Week 2

This week in English, we have started to learn about instructions. We looked at what imperative (bossy) verbs are, identified what we need to include in instructions and put a set of instructions into chronological order.

In maths, our topic this week has been position and direction. We learnt a lot of vocabulary and used this to answer a range of questions and direct our partner to different pictures on the playground.

Additionally to this, we have practised our balancing skills in PE, named a variety of different wild plants in science, created art based upon Great Fire of London, talked about the 12 disciples Jesus chose and ordered the events of the Great Fire of London.

Reminders:

-      Please return the food making participation form on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Spring - Week 1

Welcome back Class 2! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas holiday and are ready for the busy term ahead.

In English this week, we have been looking at adding the –ing, -ed and –er suffix to the end of root words. We have also completed a big write all about what we did during our Christmas break.

In maths, we have been doubling and halving a range of different numbers to 20 (and beyond!).

In addition to all of this, we have also started to learn about algorithms in computing, planted beans in science, practiced our tennis skills in PE and identified how London has changed since 1666 in history.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Leake

Autumn 2, Week 1

This week in class 2, we have been learning all about World War 1. We started the week with an introduction about why World War 1 started and the countries that were involved. We then looked at what the trenches were and how the soldiers used them. We created our own trenches using mud in our outdoor area. We have also learnt about what children did during the war and the clothing men and women wore depending upon their jobs. We ended the week today with a remembrance day were we reflected and completed some activities around the school and in church.

As well as learning all about World War 1, class 2 have been completing some of their quizzes. These will continue next week.

Reminder

-      All children will need a packed lunch on Wednesday- if they are going to mini Olympics.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
