Autumn 1 Week 7

Dear Parents,

Another week has flown by! It was lovely to see so many of you for our Family day on Wednesday. We have been busy this week applying our knowledge of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables to work out Division number sentences. We also started our poetry topic in Literacy by writing a senses poem on Bonfire night, using our best adjectives. In RE we discussed the important symbols of a Christian marriage and what they represent.

A few reminders for next week:

Please read our trip and DT letter. Donations towards our DT 'dip making' are much appreciated.

Next week Mrs Weston will be in on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and Mrs Pateman will be teaching on Wednesday and Thursday.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you next week!

Autumn 1 Week 6

Dear Parents,

We've had another productive week in Class 3. We have been working hard at learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and we have enjoyed writing our own version of Snow White.

In Geography we made up our own fact cards and compared two capital cities, London and Brasilia!

In RE we wrote table contracts and discussed why it is important to keep our promises!

We would like to remind all children and parents, that the homework is handed out every Tuesday and is due in the following Monday. Unfortunately we won't be able to mark the homework, if it is handed in late.

New spellings will go home every Tuesday and the spelling test is on the following Monday. We will be focusing on Common Exception words (also known as Tricky Words) for the rest of the term!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing lots of you next week for Family Week!

Autumn 1 Week 4

Another successful week in Class 3!

In English this week we focused on writing instructions and in Maths we made amounts using different coins. We also worked out some very tricky Money Word Problems!

This week we started learning our Harvest Poem, which we will be performing next Thursday 4th October during our Harvest Festival. The children have all got a copy of the lines they need to rehearse. We would be very grateful, if you could help your child to practise their verse at home!

As of next week, Mrs Pateman will write the spelling test score in the home spelling books. Any spellings that were incorrect will be highlighted in green.

A little reminder that only Year 3 children are allowed to bring a pencil case into school.

A lot of children have asked about show and tell. Your child will be given a date for their show and tell at some point in the next few weeks.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Autumn 1 Week 2

Hello!

We have had a great week in Class 3 practising Addition and solving simple word problems using our knowledge of Addition. In Literacy we read stories with a familiar setting and used our imagination to plan our own story, which we look forward to writing next week!

In Geography we looked at a map of the UK and practised naming the four countries as well as their capital cities!

In PHSE we discussed how we wanted to treat each other in class. The children agreed that "we should listen to each other, be kind and never laugh if someone has something important to say."

In Science we sorted and classified different objects into groups: living, non-living and never been alive.

We have really enjoyed meeting new parents at the school gates and appreciate your patience especially at home time, as it is taking some time to remember all the new faces!

We look forward to another week of fun in Class 3!

Have a lovely weekend and see you next week!
