School's out for summer!

Today has been a day of mixed emotions: happiness and excitement as we celebrated the end of another busy school year and some sadness at waving goodbye to our 2017 leavers.

Our day began with our final Collective Worship of the school year with lots of awards for attendance, swimming and so on.  We sang some of our favourite hymns and the Year 6 children were presented with their leavers books. After Collective Worship, Year 6 headed over to church for a moment of quiet reflection and a blessing from Revd Ginni.  It was a time of calm and quiet in an otherwise noisy and lively day.

As I write this, I know that the Year 6 children are off having their leaving celebrations and I am sure that they will be having a brilliant time.  It is always sad to see the children leave us for secondary school, but I am so immensely proud of each and every one of them.  They have been fantastic ambassadors for St Ippolyts School and I know that they will all go on to be just as amazing in their next schools.  They are all honest, hardworking, caring young people with bright futures ahead of them and I look forward to hearing of their successes on their new journeys.

However, time doesn't stand still, and waiting in the wings is an equally fabulous Year 5 group ready to take their place at the top of the school in September and a whole new group of 4 year olds preparing to take their first steps into schooling in Class 1.  Life in school certainly never stands still!  It will definitely not be standing still over the summer either, with a hive of activity already underway to organise all the classroom moves in preparation for our extra class in September.  2017 has been an exciting year for us at St Ippolyts and it seems fitting that all this exciting new change is happening in the year of our 170th anniversary.

I wish all of you a very happy and restful summer break and look forward to seeing you all in the autumn.

Year 6 - good luck for your move to your new schools; have courage and you will be fine I just know it!   Most of all, always be yourself and trust your instincts, they won't let you down.  You will no doubt face challenges along the way, but stay true to yourself and your values and you will always make the right choices. You are amazing, never forget that.  I will miss you all.
