Week 6

Over the past 2 weeks in English, we have been looking at and reading a range of Mr. Men books written by Roger Hargreaves. We have discussed the different characters, the features that you find in the books and how the characters look like their name. This week we created our own Mr. Men or Little Miss character on the computer and thought about a name for them. From this, we planned a story using our character.

In maths this week, we have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. As a class we have verbally counted in 2s from 2-20, in 5s from 5-50 and in 10s from 10-100. In our math lessons, we have had some number sequence challenges where we had to fill in the correct missing numbers.

During the afternoons this week, we have thought about and created a prayer about food in RE, tested different materials to see if they are waterproof, not waterproof, opaque or translucent in science and in history we learnt about the history of aeroplanes. We designed and created our own flying machines using different materials just like the Wright brothers did.

Reminders:

  • Please ensure that your child has a pair of tracksuit trousers and a jumper in their PE bags to allow for PE lessons to take place outside.
  • Next week is the final week before half term. Please can your child bring in any of their remaining pieces of home learning. Well done to those children who have already completed their 6 pieces.
    • Please ensure that your child’s jumpers are named to avoid these going missing.
  • Wednesday (18th) – School photos.
  • Friday (20th) – Class 5 cake day.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Leake.
