Home Learning
Half termly homework
At the beginning of each half term, children will bring home a grid. The coloured boxes are filled in with a range of activities to choose from. Some of the activities will be research based, or they might be creative or practical.
Over the half term, children will be expected to choose and complete a specified number of the activities from the grid, but they can choose which activity they would like to do and when to do it. (number of pieces will vary according to the length of the term)
There is no ‘due in date’ for this work – so long as the requested number of pieces have been completed by the end of the half term.
Weekly homework and spellings
For Years 2-6, weekly homework and spellings will be set on a Tuesday. The homework task will be due in and the spellings tested on the following Monday. This gives children a whole week and weekend to complete the task set. These homework tasks will be English or Maths only, linked to the work being done in class to consolidate and extend learning.
Daily Reading
For children of all ages, reading with an adult for a few minutes a day is vital for developing strong comprehension, vocabulary and spellings skills.
Year 6
Year 6 will also have access to online learning and revision tool ‘SAM Learning’.
